In this video I share with you my opinions on the brand new facelifted version of the Mk8 Golf GTI base model (also known as the Mk8.5) which now comes with 265 PS, 20 more than the old car.

Big thanks to VW UK for the opportunity to drive this car which was part of a road trip to the GTI Fanfest even at Wolfsburg in late July 2024.

A NOTE ABOUT LUXURY CAR TAX - The threshold for luxury car tax is cars with a 'list price' in excess of £40,000 - Neither VW nor DVLA clearly define what the list price is - it is the On The Road price less the first year road tax and first registration fee;
Mk8.5 GTI 265 OTR £38,900, list price £38140 which leaves £1860 for options before hitting the threshold.
