The Toyota Grand Highlander fills a subtle but important gap in the brand’s extensive SUV lineup. While Toyota already offers several three-row options, the Grand Highlander slots in as a more spacious alternative to the Highlander and a more approachable option than the full-size Sequoia. Crucially, it brings a distinct personality—more family-focused than the rugged 4Runner, and more refined in daily use than the Sequoia.

This 2025 model is largely a carryover, but our perspective today is different from the initial first drive we covered last year. This time, it’s about what the Grand Highlander is like to live with day to day. While the top-of-the-line Hybrid Max Platinum trim is the focus of this review, we’ll also cover updates across the range, including the new base LE model, which lowers the starting price, and the addition of a Nightshade edition for the hybrid variant.
