Bridging the Divide: Two Fathers Unite for Israel-Palestine Peace

In this powerful and timely episode, Tony speaks with Bassam Aramin and Rami Elhanan, two
extraordinary men who have transformed their unimaginable grief into a mission for peace. Bassam and Rami, one Palestinian and one Israeli, each lost their daughters in separate incidents in the conflict. Despite their devastating losses, they have dedicated their lives to fostering dialogue and understanding between Israelis and Palestinians.

Bassam Aramin is a Palestinian peace activist whose 10-year-old daughter, Abir, was tragically
killed by a rubber bullet fired by an Israeli border police officer in 2007. Despite this heart-
wrenching loss, Bassam has devoted his life to fostering dialogue and understanding between
Israelis and Palestinians. He is a co-founder of Combatants for Peace, an organization that brings together former Israeli and Palestinian combatants to work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Rami Elhanan is an Israeli peace activist who lost his 14-year-old daughter, Smadar, in a suicide
bombing in Jerusalem in 1997. Following this devastating event, Rami joined the Parents Circle-
Families Forum, an organization of bereaved families from both sides of the conflict dedicated to promoting reconciliation and non-violence. Rami's work highlights the human cost of the
conflict and the urgent need for peace.

In This Episode, Bassam and Rami discuss with Tony their personal journeys, the pain of losing
their daughters, and how they have channeled their grief into advocacy for peace. Their unlikely
friendship shows us the transformative power of compassion, understanding, and love.

At a time of increasing global divisions, their stories remind us of the importance of unity for
peace and love. Their courage to collaborate beyond personal pain offers a profound example of
the resilience of the human spirit.

Tune in to this deeply moving conversation, recorded live at our 2024 Platinum Lions event, and
be inspired by the incredible journeys of Bassam Aramin and Rami Elhanan. Their experiences
offer lessons on bridging divides in our communities and striving for a better future together.
