Does This Model 3 Rival Drive Like A Proper Mazda? (Mazda 6e 2026 Review)

The Mazda 6 was once thought to be retired for good but it’s set to return to Australia halfway through next year, thanks to a joint venture Changan Automotive.

Set to start at under $55,000 before on-road costs (but likely to climb higher in top grades), the electric 6e is set to compete with established EV players such as the Tesla Model 3, Polestar 2 and BYD Seal.

Despite its Chinese manufacturing and underpinnings, Mazda insists this new model is still a proper Mazda through and through but how does that materialise behind the wheel?

Chasing Cars senior contributor Nathan Ponchard has a first drive of the 6e in prototype guise, to see if Chinese Mazda is actually something you might consider buying.
