Welcome to Izmir, the third most populated city in whole of Turkey. This coastal town is ideal to spend a few days walking around and exploring its rich culture and history through monuments, bazaars, ruins and of course, FOOD!
After doing some research, we found a few street food style spots in Izmir that you simply cannot miss during your next visit in Turkey.
Our journey started in Konak Square, the most famous public square in Izmir due to its magnificent clock tower. This is the ideal place to start your exploration of Izmir and maybe even grab a quick bit or feed the pigeons.
From there, we headed to Alsancak Dostlar Firini for the best Boyoz in all of Izmir. This small cafe style restaurant serves all kinds of boyoz from chocolate to cheese and if there is only one place you you visit for food while in Izmir, this is the one!
From there, we walked a few minutes to Çelebi Unlu Mamülleri for the most delicious bombasi in the city of Izmir. Just get the original chocolate one, it's the best!
Food is great but Izmir has of course more to offer than just that so this is why we went for a quick ride on the Izmir historical elevator which was built in the early 1900's and is still in operation to this day. Going to its upper platform while reward you with an incredible view of Izmir.
If you like shopping our to simply experience the authentic pulse of Izmir, do not miss the Kameratli Bazaar, one of the oldest bazaar in the entire world. This is also a great sport for food and we highly recommend a köfte, a pomegranate juice from one of the street vendor, a simit and of course, a Turkish coffee.
Finally, if you are looking for a great place to stay while in Izmir, we cannot recomment our little apartment enough. It was in an amazing location, making it easy to walk around, it had a great view and everything you need to cook your own meals in addition to A/C and a good WIFI.
