GTI EDITION 50 - WHY I WON'T BE BUYING ONE (PROBABLY...)

In this definitely-not-sponsored-by-anyone-especially-VW video I trawl the VW Germany configurator to seek out information that will help me decide whether I should buy a Golf GTI Edition 50, information which will also help you decide too I hope.

The Edition 50 is a very different car to the Clubsport S because it's really only special because of the way that it performs and then only with the Performance Pack because otherwise it's just a Clubsport with a nicer interior, a bit more power and some iffy red pedals and wheels. The Clubsport S is special from bumper to bumper and gives a thrill just sitting in those Recaro buckets, especially when you look over your shoulder at the void where the back seats should be.
So if you aren't going to drive the Edition 50 harder than a 8.5 Clubsport, what really is the point? And if you are, you are going to have to do that on a track if you want to stay within the law and if you do that surely there are better cars for driving on track for £50k...?
But buying cars solely with ones head is not what we do so a piece of me still wants one but would I bother if I wasn't planning to share the ownership journey with you guys? Not. Sure.
