Is It Really Too Much to Ask for an Update?

Don't you hate it when you get to your gate only to find out that the "Boarding Time" is completely made up? Wouldn't it be nicer to be able to take your time having coffee, shopping, or sitting at the duty free if you knew your flight wouldn't leave on time? Is it too much to ask for a simple update?
