In this video I spend a week with the new ID3 GTX Performance and decide if it really is the electric Golf GTI Clubsport counterpart as suggested by a VW UK board member as its launch.

Unfortunately since filming VW has decreased the ID3 deposit contribution by £750 to £3200 and decreased the APR on the Golf GTI Clubsport from 7.9% to 6.9% which has reduced the monthly payment difference on a 3 year/10k pa PCP with £8k deposit to just £50, not the £90 that the ID3 was originally cheaper. However the Cupra Born is still priced the same as it was in 2024 and that makes it £70 cheaper per month than the Clubsport and £20 cheaper than the ID3 GTX and that is where I'd put my money (with optional DCC).

So over 3 years the saving in going for the ID3 GTX are now £2k and not £3k however the fuel savings are the same if not better as unleaded has gone up and over 10k miles per year you'd save around £3k -totalling £5k - easily enough to buy a good fun ICE car for weekends like a Mk5 Golf GTI or Mk1/2 Audi TT. And the ID3 GTX is an excellent daily car, for my current circumstances it's a lot better than the GTI Clubsport.
