Just Buy The Straight-Six! (Mazda CX-60 G25 2.5L RWD 2026 review)
Mazda has added yet more choice to the CX-60 line-up in Australia, with the ‘G25’ 2.5-litre four-cylinder becoming the fourth powertrain option. It offers a tantalisingly low start price, but is saving about $6000 really worth it?
Producing 138kW and 250Nm, the four-cylinders outputs are just over half what you get in the ‘G40E’ straight-six petrol, yet weight savings are only 150kg. Fuel consumption isn’t any better on paper, either, despite the ‘G25’ engine picking up an eight-speed automatic for the first.
Senior contributor Nathan Ponchard conducts a first drive of the 2026 Mazda CX-60 rear-wheel drive, and gives his thoughts on how it compares to the bigger-engined and plug-in hybrid options, along with grappling with who the new CX-60 is for.
