Our EPIC TUKTUK RACE Across Sri Lanka

Welcome to the Tuktuk tournament in Sri Lanka, a competition that we will be participating into for the next two weeks taking us all over the country onboard our trusty red tuktuk which we named Kottu. This tournament as a fun and quirky event encouraging participants to explore Sri Lanka in the most authentic ways by getting off of the beaten paths and interacting with the always hospitable Sri Lankans.

This year, 88 teams from 26 different country are competing to raise enough money by completing different tasks to hopefully buy a brand new electric tuktuk to a deserving Sri Lankan athlete to help him or her to reach the Olympics and represent Sri Lanka.

Our tuktuk road trip started with everyone else in Colombo and we decided to head East into the tea plantation territory. We pass through Nuwara Eliya, Budalla, Bibile and all the way to Kandy by visiting waterfalls, temple, markets and eating a lot of delicious Sri Lankan street foods. We then met up with all the other teams for the mid tournament party in Kandy before going back on the road and heading South in Part 2 of this series.
