Welcome to Pamukkale a small town just outside of Denizli, Turkey that is famous for two things, the Pamukkale Tavertines and the Hierapolis ruins.
For our two days in Pamukkale, Turkey we decided to stay at Anya Resort Hotel. It had a pool, a very nice buffet breakfast and friendly staff. If you visit this region of Turkey, you will for sure like this hotel which you can book here: https://booking.tp.st/znrKKRPO
In terms of things to do in Pamukkale, we started with the Hierapolis ruins, an ancient city built almost 2,000 years ago by Greek Settlers. The ruins are very impressive to see, especially the amphitheatre which is still standing strong to this day. You can also visit the Cleopatra Antique Pools, thermal waters that are believed to have benefits for whom ever swims in them just like Cleopatra did a long time ago.
Up next, the Pamukkale Tavertines. This is where reality is a bit different than what you see online. We highly suggest that you visit early in the morning to avoid crowd. The tavertines are a large calcium deposit on a hill which looks almost like snow. Apart from the crowd, it was a beautiful sight.
For lunch or dinner, you HAVE to visit the Tikir Grill House restaurant in Pamukkale. The food is simply delicious and the owner is the best. You will for sure get more than you pay for and have a delightful dining experience.
Finally, if flying in a hot air balloon at sunrise in Cappadocia is a little bit outside of your budget, you can do a similar experience in Pamukkale for MUCH cheaper. And even if you don't go in the balloon, you should at least wake up early to go see them take off. What a beautiful sight!
