Russian propaganda likes to portray Russia as a very wholesome and friendly country that doesn't have the Western issues of immigration, xenophobia and racism. Some Westerners even idolize Russia as a sort of conservative safe haven that also has no minorities. All of this is not true - Russia is a very diverse country that has a lot of different ethnic groups, and there are a lot of migrants. And things are far from perfect: a lot of minorities in Russia feel exploited and underprivileged. At the same time, ethnic Russians are also becoming more xenophobic and hateful towards minorities and migrants, because they feel like Russia should 'belong to Russians'.
