Russian Troops HID Underground… Ukraine FLUSHED Them Out With MINES

Vovchansk, a city in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region where over 80% of buildings have been destroyed, has become the site of a dangerous underground war. By October 2024, Russian troops had built tunnels and sewers to supply fighters and launch surprise assaults. In March 2025, Ukraine’s 34th Motorized Infantry Battalion—known as the Wolfhounds—responded with a new mine-based tactic that is changing the fight.

In footage released in September 2025 by Euromaidan Press, Ukrainian soldiers are seen throwing activated anti-tank mines into Russian tunnel openings, triggering devastating explosions. The tactic directly counters Russia’s reliance on underground operations and threatens to collapse their fortifications. With Vovchansk serving as a potential stepping stone toward Kupiansk, Ukraine’s strategy aims to block Russia’s advance and preserve control over Kharkiv, a region vital both strategically and symbolically.
