The most powerful M-car ever (BMW XM Label Red 2024 review)

With a claimed 550kW and around 1000N, the Label Red version of the BMW’s radical XM SUV launched as the highest output production car ever released by Munich’s M division. And it’s limited to just 30 examples to be offered in Australia.

Blending a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 with plug-in hybrid power is a 2.7-tonne package that promises stunning 3.8-second performance while also offering up to 83 kilometres of fully electric driving range.

Is the XM Label Red as quick and as range-savvy as is claimed? And does the hyper-SUV that nudges around $400K on the road live up to lofty expectations? Chasing Cars’ journalist Olek Novak finds out.
