Diwali is one of the largest celebration in the entire world with well over 1 Billion people celebrating every single year. But this celebration gets even bigger in countries like India and Sri Lanka so this is why this year, we decided to drive at the Northern point of Sri Lanka in a city called Jaffna.
According to our reached on Diwali in Sri Lanka also called Deepavali celebration, Jaffna is the best place in the countries for the festival of lights.
The day started slow with people going to the different temples around Jaffna. We personally went to the Nallur Kandaswamy Devasthanam Temple in the centre of Jaffna where we were able to observe prayers and people making different offering which was truly beautiful and peaceful.
Because nothing says Diwali or Deepavili like sweets, we also had to try some of those and frankly, they were delicious!
Once the sun went down, this is went the true celebrations started and the best place we have found was definitely around the Pannai Beach of Jaffna. From the colorful lights to the music, rides and food, this was quite something to see, it was WILD. People dancing, laughing and just spending time together, something truly amazing to see and be a part of.
