Left-wing politics seem to be pretty popular with the youth in the West. Many young people in Eastern Europe, however, have a different opinion: there are a lot of ex Warsaw Pact and Post Soviet countries where socialism & communism is HATED. Eastern Europeans love to make fun of Westerners for liking socialism and being naive. But why is that? A lot of it is related to the USSR and its history with these countries. Communism is associated with a general lack of freedom and free speech, and even a lot of modern Russians don't like communism. So, why does this happen? Why do people in countries like Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Hungary, Poland and so on have a bad opinion of socialism? And did the fall of the Soviet Union really meet Eastern Europeans' expectations?
