NEW Genesis X Gran Equator SUV Concept

The Genesis X Gran Equator Concept’s exterior emphasizes clean lines and uncluttered surfaces. A long hood, sleek cabin and fast C-pillars create a silhouette that defies traditional SUV conventions, while dark wheel-arch cladding and 24-inch beadlock wheels underscore its off-road readiness. The geometric auxiliary lamps and split-opening tailgate blend practicality with Genesis’ signature Two-Line headlamps, ensuring the X Gran Equator is as purposeful as it is striking.

Inside, the Genesis X Gran Equator Concept orchestrates contrast between analog architecture and digital technologies, crafting a space that feels both functional and evocative. At the center of the cabin is a four-circle display cluster on the center stack, inspired by the vintage camera dials. The interior design features contrasting colors and shapes, with a preference for geometric over organic elements. The dashboard's linear architecture and absence of decorations focus the driver's attention on the journey, while swiveling front seats and modular storage solutions enhance practicality.

The name draws inspiration from ā€œEquator,ā€ recognized as the "finest stallion" in the world of Arabian horses — a symbol of endurance, agility and refined power. These qualities reflect the spirit of the concept: a vehicle that is both elegant and capable, engineered to perform in extreme conditions while maintaining a natural sense of grace.

The X Gran Equator Concept signals Genesis’ continued expansion into lifestyle-oriented vehicles, balancing sophistication with versatility. While not confirmed for production, its design language and innovative features — such as the integrated roof rails and split-opening tailgate — showcase the brand’s future design potential.

The X Gran Equator Concept will be displayed at the Genesis booth during the 2025 New York International Auto Show from April 18 at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

NEW Ferrari 296 Speciale & Speciale A

Ferrari has presented its latest special version model, theĀ 296 Speciale, a mid-rear engined plug-in hybrid berlinetta. This car takes its rightful place in the exclusive lineage of special version Ferrari berlinettas and, just like its forebears – the Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia, 458 Speciale and 488 Pista – has been conceived to set the new benchmark in terms of driving thrills and engagement, not just for the marque’s production range, but for the segment as a whole.

The internal combustion engine borrows from the powerplant of the 296 Challenge in terms of engine management maps and boost strategy, and boasts titanium connecting rods, reinforced pistons and a lightened crankshaft. All these elements, together with a knock control system derived from Formula 1, have raised the power output of the V6 to 700 cv, 37 more than the model this special version is based on. The V6 engine of the 296 Speciale maintains its distinctive timbre,Ā a sound consisting of the pure harmonics of the 3rd, 6th, and 9th combustion orders which, in this application, have gained in quality, intensity and volume.

The electric motor has also been uprated and is now capable of delivering 180 cv in the new extra boost mode. This increase in power has also made it possible to introduce a new strategy for the eight-speed DCT transmission, which makes use of additional torque during shifts to shorten shift times and increase both performance and driver engagement.

The 296 Speciale generates 435 kg of downforce at 250 km/h - 20% more than the 296 GTB - thanks to innovative solutions developed and tested on the 296 Challenge. These include the aero damper integrated into the front bonnet and the vertical fins on the rear bumper which incorporate new side wings that work in synergy with the active rear spoiler to generate additional downforce. The spoiler is now managed by a new actuator control strategy that not only shortens the transition time between Low Drag (LD) and High Downforce (HD) configurations by 50% but also introduces a new Medium Downforce (MD) configuration, which improves rear-end stability at high speeds.

NEW Citroƫn C5 Aircross 2025 - Spacious SUV

The New C5 Aircross offers greater peace of mind by incorporating driving aids that make life easier – such as the CitroĆ«n Matrix Leds or Pack drive Assist 2.0 – and byĀ offering a choice of several electrified energies to suit different needs, setting new standards in terms of freedom of movement:Ā more than 100 km in electric mode in the plug-in hybrid versionĀ for everyday journeys in town,Ā up to 680 km in the electric version, and more thanĀ 950 km in the hybrid version.

Most of the gains made by the new C5 Aircross are based on the Stellantis STLA-Medium platform, which it introduces to Citroën. This platform offers great flexibility both in terms of dimensions - in this case with a longer wheelbase to enhance passenger space - and powertrains, making it ideal for both hybrid and all-electric vehicles. Its intelligent design means that it can accommodate a range of batteries without losing any space in the passenger compartment, along with large wheels with a diameter of 740 mm and up to 20 inches. Last but not least, the STLA-Medium platform offers customers a host of driving aids and latest-generation connectivity and infotainment interfaces, making driving even more fun and stress-free.

Developed in France and assembled at Citroƫn's Rennes plant, the new C5 Aircross will go on sale in the main European markets in the second half of 2025.

Renault 4 E-Tech Electric – Interior and Exterior Details

Renault 4 E-Tech electric owes all these qualities, and much more, to its dedicated AmpR Small platform, the only one of its kind in Europe, shared with Renault 5 E-tech electric. The emphasis is on agile, dynamic driving, delivered by the low centre of gravity and multi-link rear suspension. At the same time, comfort levels are slightly increased to reflect all versatility requirements, allowing it to tow a trailer or small caravan of up to 750 kg. This platform is also designed to support driving aids from higher market segments, such as Active Driver Assist for Level 2 autonomous driving. It also hosts most advanced connected services, primarily through the OpenR Link with Google built-in multimedia system, as well as with the official Reno avatar, a new everyday companion working with the ChatGPT AI chatbot.

The result is a unique driving experience, enhanced by a level of driveability that makes electric vehicles accessible to everyone. Renault 4 E-Tech electric ships with an 11 kW AC charger for everyday use and an 80 or 100 kW DC charger for longer journeys. Further, the 11 kW AC charger is bidirectional, for compatibility with V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2G (vehicle-to-grid)* functions. In this way, the car can become an energy source or even a player in the ecosystem by feeding carbon-free electricity back into the grid using Mobilize services. This wide range of services also supports day-to-day EV driving: intelligent charging with Mobilize Smart Charge, access to over 800,000 charging points in 25 European countries with Mobilize Charge Pass and automatic charging without a badge or credit card with the Plug & Charge function. So there you have the full picture. All you need to do now is take the wheel!

The Victorian High Country is an iconic go-to location for 4x4 enthusiasts and nature lovers everywhere, making it the perfect place to test our Triton to its absolute limits.

Travelling in a convoy of highly modified 4x4s, our Triton remains 100% stock for this trip and is here for us to see how well it performs in a real-world environment.

Custodian and production specialist Tom Place seeks to find out if the Triton will impress, or if he’d be left wondering if one of its rivals would be better suited to this challenge in stock form.
