Subaru isn’t known for radical shifts in its lineup, but this new small SUV marks a distinct departure from the brand’s typical approach. With more than 330 horsepower under the hood, it represents a bold move into performance territory previously unexplored in this segment by Subaru. The vehicle is called the Uncharted, and it sits as the brand’s new entry-level SUV, positioned below the updated 2026 Solterra and the larger Trail Seeker.

Co-developed with Toyota—whose own version will be released shortly as the CH-R—the Uncharted shares its underpinnings while adopting a character that is distinctly Subaru. It's about seven inches shorter than the Solterra, and its body leans towards the SUV coupe style. In this respect, it draws comparisons to models like the Audi Q4 Sportback, albeit with a rugged twist. Black plastic cladding protects the bodywork, and the design emphasizes durability and angularity.

Kia has introduced the 2026 K4 Hatchback, following the debut of the K4 sedan as a successor to the Forte. While the sedan stirred debate with its distinctive styling and notable length, the hatchback takes a slightly different approach. It’s nearly 11 inches shorter, yet still manages to deliver impressive rear legroom and expanded cargo capacity. From the front, it mirrors the sedan’s design language, but the rear reveals several changes—most notably, a more upright roofline for improved headroom, a floating-roof-style black panel, and a bold new color option that contrasts sharply with the taillights. Though the unconventional rear door handles may divide opinion, the hatchback’s overall design presents a fresh, functional alternative in Kia’s compact lineup.
