Carnegie proved that not just people born into privilege could become extremely wealthy. Sure, he was ruthless at times. Many argue that he exploited and dehumanized his workers. Throughout his working career, he seemingly prioritized the bottom line over all else. It was all about making as much money as possible. He believed individualism ultimately improved society more than collectivism.

But Andrew Carnegie would argue that the ends justifies the means. He argued that the rich were obligated to use their wealth to give back to society. Heck, he even argued that if the rich weren’t going to give back willingly to society, then governments should tax them so that they are forced to give back. Carnegie firmly believed that the future leaders of society would and SHOULD come from the working class.

The Vietnam War was the longest war in American history up to that point, only surpassed by the War in Afghanistan in 2021 lasting six months longer. The war dramatically hurt the reputation of the United States. It hurt…uh…the UNITED STATES quite a bit, too.

I used to believe that MANY Vietnam War veterans were called “baby-killers” and even spat on by anti-war protestors when they returned home from the war. I bet many of you watching this right now believe this, too. In fact, there are videos on YouTube that bring it up.

But that’s another historical myth.

There is no conclusive evidence of this ever happening, despite many historians trying to uncover such evidence. In fact, according to one poll, only 1% of Vietnam War vets said that their homecoming was “not at all friendly.” Now, I’m not saying a spitting incident didn’t happen at all, but if it did, the evidence proving it is shaky.

So how did this myth originate? Eh, it maybe started with this G.I. Joe cartoon from the 1980s, then was later repeated by politicians making fun of anti-war protestors.

The Full House...House is up for sale

Yep, THIS house, the one featured in the hit sitcom Full House and the sequel series Fuller House. Located in San Francisco’s Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood. As you could imagine, it’s been a popular tourist attraction for fans of the shows.

Believe it or not, the creator of those shows, Jeff Franklin, owned it for a few years to preserve it for fans. If YOU wanna buy the 3,700 square-foot, 124-year old house, you get the option of buying handprints cast in concrete from members of the cast. Now, you probably know that San Francisco is one of the world’s most expensive cities to live in.

When Full House first aired in 1987, the house was likely worth at least $450,000. In 2016, when Fuller House first aired, Franklin bought it for $4 million.

What’s it being sold for today? $6.5 million. I just don’t think Danny Tanner would have been able to afford it today.
