I've tried to make this guide real world relevant so rather than give you a list of things to check, many of which would be impractical on someone's driveway, I go through the inspection process in the order that I would perform it.
I could have listed many more issues but problem MAF and Lambda sensors for example are not easy to pin down on viewing a car unless you run diagnostics so instead I recommend you look for warning lights on the dash or insufficient performance.
