BMW M3 v M4: DRAG RACE

Change your car with Carwow: https://bit.ly/Change-Your-Car-2702

How’s this for a BMW line-up!

We’ve got our hands on the new G82 M4 CS, and it’s lining up against the F82 M4 CS, the E92 M3, and the E46 M3! The question is, will it be an easy win for the newest car? Let’s take a closer look at the stats.

The new M4 CS is powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that produces 551hp and 650Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1,760kg. As new, it costs around £120,000.

The F82 M4 CS is also powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six. It puts down 460hp and 600Nm, with this power being sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It tips the scales at 1,580kg, and when new it costs around £89,000.

The E92 M3 packs a glorious 4-litre naturally-aspirated V8 under the bonnet, and this creates 420hp and 400Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 7-speed dual-clutch, and it weighs in at 1,600kg. As new, the E92 cost around £55,000 when it was released.

Finally, we have the E46 M3. It creates 343hp and 365Nm from its 3.2-litre naturally-aspirated V6. This power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automated manual, and as you’d expect, it’s the lightest car here at 1,495kg. When new, it cost £42,000.

So the new car has a clear advantage on paper, but will it snatch the win? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

A 2.0L engine in an AMG is despicable Mercedes...

When The World's Fastest FWD Sport Sedans Were Secretly The Same Car — Revelations w/ Jason Cammisa

The Alfa Romeo 164, Lancia Thema 8.32, and Saab 9000 Aero looked different — but were the same car underneath. The Fiat Tipo Quattro platform resulted in four cars total (including the Fiat Croma) that included three of the quickest, fastest, and most powerful front-drive sedans in the world.

In this documentary episode, veteran automotive journalist Jason Cammisa dives deep into the history of the fascinating development of unlikely triplets - three sport sedans with vastly different personalities.

The 1987-1992 Lancia Thema 8.32 used a 2.9-liter, 4-cam, 32-valve Ferrari V-8 (with a cross-plane crankshaft) to make 215 hp. It was the world's most powerful front-drive car when it debuted, with a staggering price and even more impressive performance. And and luxurious interior lined almost completely in Poltrona Frau leather. It was so fast, so rich, and so sumptuous that Enzo Ferrari used one for his daily transportation.

The 1987-1998 Alfa Romeo 164 was the dedicated sport-sedan of the bunch. The most powerful version was the 164Q (in the U.S., Quadrifoglio Verde elsewhere) used the quad-cam, 3.0-liter, 24-valve Busso V-6, which made 230 hp. And then there's the 164 Q4, which came with that engine hooked up only to a 6-speed manual and Viscomatic: Alfa Romeo's all-wheel drive system that was a joint venture with Steyr-Daimler-Puch.

The 1984-1998 Saab 9000 Turbo was a giant beater — a large hatchback that could swallow an entire IKEA. For enthusiasts, the interesting one was the 2.3-liter Aero, which boasted a turbocharged, 16-valve engine making an outrageous 225 hp.

Fiat's own version, the Croma, was never available in a performance version, but together, these four cars show that platform engineering can result in cars with distinctly different personalities — though that might eliminate any financial benefit to their makers.

Wondering why Nissan and Honda are in talks to merge right now? You'll find that history is repeating itself, in this amusing and interesting story about what happens when the car industry fears trouble is coming.

This is why expensive SUVs are pointless!

The Cizeta-Moroder V16T Proved Cylinder Count Matters — Full History — Revelations w/ Jason Cammisa

This is the complicated history of the first hypercar, the Cizeta V16T — also the world’s first 16-cylinder sports car. Designed by ex-Lamborghini engineers, it was Maximum Countach — outrageous Gandini styling, brutal horsepower, and just enough luxury to function as a car.

Buy the book:
https://cizeta-v16t.com/
From the publisher: www.lajeteepress.com

The brainchild of Italian-born, American-based engineer Claudio Zampolli, the Cizeta’s centerpiece was a 6.0-liter, 8000-rpm, 8-camshaft, 64-valve, twin-crankshaft V16 mounted transversely behind its two seats. To eliminate damaging crankshaft torsional vibrations, the engine’s power was taken from the middle of the cranks — sent to a traditional dogleg 5-speed transaxle driving the rear wheels.

That's right, a V16 and a dogleg manual transmission. With four popup headlights. (And four more driving lights.)

For decades, there’s been speculation that the engine was just two Ferrari V8s (from the 308 Quattrovalvole) or two Lamborghini V8s (from the Urraco P300) — but it’s neither. The cylinder block is one cast V16 — though it borrows much from both the Lamborghini and Ferrari V8s.

A total of 10 Cizeta V16Ts were produced — this prototype is the only one badged Cizeta-Moroder, as chief investor and famed music producer Giorgio Moroder pulled out of the venture before the production cars were built. Almost winning a comparison test against the Ferrari F40, Porsche 959 and Countach, its reviews were exceedingly positive.

However, the man whose initials are spelled out "Cizeta" in Italian, cast a sometimes negative light on the car, becoming embroiled in a $150,000,000 lawsuit against Jay Leno. Not to mention all the parties who sued Zampolli — including his own lawyer, whom he double-crossed.

It's a fascinating story of the creation of one of the most outrageous supercars ever built.
