Sometimes a Porsche 911 with a McLaren Formula 1 engine in the back just isn’t enough, and so we paired the amazing TAG Turbo with the wild 700bhp RUF CTR. And just in case the duo wasn’t eye catching enough on its own, Broad Arrow happened to have access to both in one of the most fabulous Porsche paint colours - Mint Green (mintgrün - code 22R). These are our Extra Strong Mints!

Henry Catchpole certainly had his hands full with this pair at Anglesey circuit, but both delivered unforgettable experiences. The TAG Turbo is one of 11 cars made by Lanzante in tribute to an original Porsche mule. That factory car was built to test the famous turbocharged V6 that McLaren used in its Formula 1 cars from 1983 to 1987, winning three driver’s championships and 2 constructor’s championships. The engine in this particular car, AP87, was used by Alain Prost for three races, with a best result of third place at the 1987 Hungarian Grand Prix.

The original RUF CTR is a legend thanks to the 1980s Yellowbird and the film Fascination on the Nürburgring. This is the modern iteration of that car, now with 700bhp and a carbon fibre chassis (you can find out more about the chassis in our recent RUF film featuring the SCR). With a seven-speed, manual gearbox and 649lb ft of turbocharged torque going to the rear wheels, it certainly lives up to the legend of its wild forebear.

Both cars are fabulously finished and very distinct to drive. The TAG Turbo is incredibly well sorted and nothing like as unruly or one-dimensional as it might sound. Equally, the RUF has a real smoothness and air of usability to it, in spite of the crazy numbers. Another nice link between the two cars is that both six-cylinder engines were originally designed by the legendary Hans Mezger.

It’s time for an almighty SUV showdown!
We’ve got our hands on the Lamborghini Urus, Audi RSQ8, Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT & the Bentley Bentayga, and they’re about to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile! So let’s see how these four compare.
Starting with the Urus Performante, it’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can generate 666hp and 850Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed auto, and it tips the scales at 2,150kg. As new, the Urus Performante cost around £208,000.
As for the RSQ8 Performance, it’s powered by the same 4-litre twin-turbo V8 as the Urus, however power output is ‘only’ 640hp and 850Nm in this variation. This is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed auto, and it weighs in at 2,275kg. As new, it costs around £122,000.
The Porsche rolls up powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 as well as an electric motor. Combined they produce 739hp and 950Nm, and this is delivered to all four wheels via an 8-speed auto. It’s the heaviest car here, at 2,495kg, and it costs around £165,000.
Finally we have the Bentley. Its 4-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 550hp and 770Nm, and this is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed auto. It tips the scales at 2,416kg, and in 2025 it costs £222,500.
So will it be an easy win for the Porsche? And could the Audi beat the Urus?! There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!
