Russia is known for calling itself a traditional conservative country - and the laws definitely follow suit: recently Russia banned LGBT and considered it as an extremist movement. Well, I was very surprised to find out that apparently there are transgender soldiers in the Russian army, fighting in Ukraine. In fact, a lot of them are volunteers that fully support Putin and the Z ideology. How is this possible? Why would a trans person fight for the conservative ideals of Russia? Let's talk about a curious case of a trans soldier in the Russian army and discuss how this cognitive dissonance appears as a result of Russia's authoritarian system. What makes people actively vote and act against their own interests? And why is modern Russia so insanely post-modern and ironic?

In the light of US president Trump's recent statements on Ukraine and Zelenskyy and the talks between Russia and USA, a lot of people are slowly coming to a realisation that Putin might get away with it. Z Russians are already celebrating their victory and are getting excited about Western brands coming back. Many of them make fun of Russians who left, saying their immigration was in vain. But is it true? As a Russian who left Russia 3 years ago, I find all of this very interesting, and it really reminds me of how Russian immigrants felt after the creation of the USSR. Is Putin's Russia going to be 'just fine', and did I make a mistake by leaving Russia? Let's talk about it.
