As a Russian who left Russia, I've been noticing a lot of strange developments in the USA recently. And after Russia banned YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and a ton more social media, seeing the US TikTok ban really makes me feel like America's future may be Russia's present. And with the increased role billionaires like Elon Musk and Zuck will be now playing in US politics, America's future may actually look like Boris Yeltsin and early Post-Soviet Russia. Let's talk about where America is going, how I feel about it as a Russian and discuss the US banning TikTok from a free speech perspective. Is Russian censorship coming to America? A few days ago I uploaded a video reviewing a new Russian TV show, which is basically a Z propaganda sitcom about Joe Biden. The video took a long time to make and was almost an hour long. I was pretty annoyed when I learned that my video got taken down by GAZPROM - a Russian governmental company. And of course, my video was fair use. The video just got reinstated, but I still have questions. How is Russia still able to copyright strike content on YouTube, when YouTube deletes Russian channels and has turned off AdSense for Russian YouTubers? Why are we even respecting Russian copyright when Russia does not respect copyright whatsoever since 2022? Let's talk about my copyright strike from Gazprom Media and what it means.

Modern Putin's Russia is a country with a lot of censorship where the laws keep getting more and more ridiculous. Being a Russian YouTuber has definitely gotten harder over the years: Russian influencers have to watch what they say very thoroughly, or they may end up getting canceled or ARRESTED. It's extremely easy for a Russian YouTuber to become a criminal - just openly criticise the government. However, several Russian YouTubers have been arrested in the past for very strange things that are way less obvious. In today's video we'll talk about three outrageous cases of Russian YouTubers that went to prison: the 2016 Ruslan Sokolovsky case (jailed for playing Pokemon GO in a church); the 2021 case of Yuri Khovansky (jailed for an edgy song) and the 2021 case of Andrey Pyzh from urbanturizm (jailed for urban exploration & having connections to Ukraine). These are stories that show the messed up nature of the Russian justice system firsthand and which shook Russia and the Russian YouTube sphere as a whole. Why are Russian YouTubers getting arrested?
