During our Christmas market tour around Brussels in Belgium, we saw a few food booths with Canadians flags and Quebec flags. Being from Montreal, I simply had to go check it out!

A team from Montreal decided to fly all the way to Belgium for the Christmas market season and share our cuisine through poutine, smoked meat, beaver tails, maple syrup and more which was so cool to see.

We decided to try a smoked meat poutine and it was great. The team working there brought our famous cheese curds all the way from my home province in Canada, Quebec.

I you want to give them a visit which we highly recommend, they are located around the Eglise Sainte-Catherine in Brussels in the Christmas Market.

Welcome to Budapest the capital city of Hungary in Eastern Europe. This city knows how to do Christmas and especially Christmas markets and this is probably why they keep winning best Christmas market in Europe year after year. In fact, the Budapest Advent Feast Christmas Market located in front of the St Stephen Basilican won this award four time in a row including for the 2024 Holiday season.

Our Christmas market exploration started at the Vörösmarty Tér or Voromarty Square Christmas Market where they had more street food than we had even seen in any other market in Europe. From Hungarian goulash to gluhwein, lángos and töltött káposzta (cabbage roll) they really have it all. We tasted a little bit of everything and it was all so delicious and loaded with paprika of course!

From there, we walked to the Advent Fest Basilica Christmas market, this is the one that keep winning Best Christmas market in Europe year after year and it is well deserved. First of all the light show that happens every 30 minutes on the St Stephen Basilica is beautiful and truly adds to the ambiance of the holiday market. Do no miss the kürtőskalács or famous chimney cake which is a true delicacy here in Hungary. Otherwise, the live music, Christmas decors and wide variety of Christmas food and gifts this market was truly magical!
