Is Lexus worth the $20K upcharge over Toyota? (2025 Lexus GX vs Toyota Prado review)

At a tenner under $100,000 the diesel Toyota Prado Kakadu takes one of the most popular 4x4 wagons on sale and lavishes it in luxury. But Toyota’s own luxury arm, Lexus, has its own twin in the mighty turbo-petrol-powered GX pitched at buyers who are a little more flush with cash.

Prado versus GX? Which is better? Which is nicer? What’s the better all-rounder family-friendly option?

Chasing Cars contributor Iain Curry pits the $99,990 Toyota Prado Kakadu against the off-road focused $122,250 Lexus GX550 Overtrail to see what sort of difference circa-$22K makes in the large all-terrain wagon stakes, and which is better purchasing choice.

How Google ruined my life.

I left Russia 3 years ago, and since then I lived in several different countries. Moving country to country, I became an expert in bureaucracy. And I can unironically say that Google has WORSE bureaucracy than many actual countries. When I was leaving Russia, I also had to leave Russia DIGITALLY and change all my accounts. And doing that with Google proved to be insanely difficult. This is a story about frustration, bureaucracy and the dystopian future of social media. This is a story of how Google ruined my life.

10,000 Kilometres In Korea’s RAV4 Rival (Hyundai Tucson Elite Hybrid 2025 Long-Term Review)

Hyundai recently revamped its midsize Tucson SUV line-up, ditching diesel and giving petrol-electric hybrid power a big push in its chase of the hugely popular Toyota RAV4.

So Chasing Cars’ deputy editor Curt Dupriez has commandeered ‘Ari’ the Elite Hybrid 2WD with N-Line pack, which lobs from $52,600 before on-roads, to see if the Korean mid-size SUV has the goods to take on the biggest selling passenger car in Australia tyre to tyre.

As we hit the six-month mark adding 10,000 kilometres under its 19-inch wheels, Dupriez kicks off Part 1 of our two-part verdict on whether the Tucson should be short-listed in your search for a petrol-electric family hauler.

Stay tuned for our final (Part 2) wrap-up next week!
