Tesla’s midsized electric SUV, the Model Y, has dominated the sales charts, and now there’s a heavily upgraded model that sets out to address some key flaws such as poor ride quality, while improving areas of strength such as battery efficiency and performance.

The Australian range of updated Model Y variants will go on sale in May,
echoing the outgoing car with RWD, Long Range AWD, and Performance variants - with the flagship to come at a later date.

The base Model Y RWS costs from $58,900 and comes with 255kW of power and 466km power and 511km WLTP range.

The sixth-generation Subaru Forester is almost here in Australia, due to go on sale halfway through this year.

In today’s first look at the Forester, we get hands-on with this popular midsize SUV, take you through its design, the updated interior and the Toyota-sourced hybrid system.

The new system claims to be efficient enough for over 1000km of range, as well as being stronger and generally more efficient than the previous-generation Forester.

Competing with the likes of the Toyota RAV4, Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson hybrid models, the midsize SUV returns with its own rugged twist.

Ford Australia has whipped the sheet off its most capable Ranger ute variant yet: the Super Duty 4x4.

Devised and engineered in Australia, the takes the F-Series Super Duty formula and applies it faithfully to Ranger, creating a hard-core variant that ups payload and towing (now 4500kg) while also offering supreme 4x4 off-road capability.

Powered by the familiar 3.0-litre diesel V6, the Super Duty gets chassis upgrades, revised suspension with wider tracks, eight-stud hubs, and electronic locking diffs front and rear. The hefty 4500kg GVM and 8000kg GCM rig is also treated to unique bonnet, grille and from quarter panels.

Chasing Cars off-road specialist Evan Spence heads to Ford HQ to check out the new Super Duty in the flesh ahead of its Australian public debut.

Responding to the haters, Kia has THIS: the Tasman Weekender concept, which adds width, bigger wheels, painted guards/fenders and some headlight protection.

Kia is trying to say two things to critics of the Tasman ute/pick-up design: on the one hand, Kia says the Tasman was supposed to be different. But on the other, Kia says it has to listen to customers and be flexible.

Enter the Tasman Weekender: yes, it is a concept BUT it is drivable and uses the same 2.2-litre turbo diesel as other Tasmans. It is a design study about where Kia might like to take the aesthetics of the Tasman in future.

Should this be put into production as the Tasman? We think so!
